185-foot towers = $100,000–$200,000 loss for your family
Dear Neighbors,
We’re back to our regularly scheduled programming. The SCC hearings are coming up, so you’ll see a few more messages this week. Each will cover a different reason why this case matters and what we need to do.
This is about protecting OUR neighborhood - and YOUR home values.
Dominion’s plan would put 185-foot bulk transmission towers through the heart of our neighborhood. Not just near highways or far-off fields - but through the very places where we live our lives.
That means:
- Towers cutting across our schools
- Replacing the paths where kids ride their bikes
- Destroying the trails families walk in the woods
- Slicing through the backyards where neighbors gather, children play, and memories are made
And it’s not just the way things look or feel - it’s the financial hit. Studies show homes near high-voltage lines lose 10-20% or more of their value . With average homes in our community over $1M, that’s $100,000–$200,000 erased from each household. For many families, that’s their retirement, their children’s college savings, or the security they’ve worked their entire lives to build.
What You Must Do to Protect Your Investment
1. Rally This Saturday - Sept 13, 10am, LVE Clubhouse (43636 Lucketts Bridge Circle) A short rally (30–40 mins) with experts and elected officials on hand to answer questions. Afterward, volunteers will help distribute fliers to neighbors.
Bring your family. Tell a friend or two - or five. Last time we had a strong turnout in our neighborhood at the School Board , got the whole area covered quickly, and our numbers sent a message. This time, we need an even bigger crowd.
We’ll also have advocates joining us to support us - let’s make sure they see that we care deeply about this issue.
2. Submit SCC comments this week
· Templates at www.nopowerlines.org
· Every household member should submit one comment
- PACK the SCC hearings – Sept 18 & 29 at Rock Ridge HS. Arrive by 6pm to register to speak.
- Large turnout is our leverage
- You do not have to speak to attend - we need everyone there either way
- The September hearings help determine whether underground alternatives get serious consideration in Richmond this December
We need every one of you at the SCC hearings. Please, if you read this, tell your family. Tell your neighbors. Tell your friends in other communities. This doesn’t just impact LVE - it impacts our whole area. Tell those friends too.
