We're Not Done Yet - Stop Overhead Power Lines in Our Neighborhoods
Please remember to come to the town hall with Congressman Suhas Subramanyam tonight at 7pm at Stone Hill Middle School - we need to pack the place. Grab a neighbor, grab a friend, and come on over. Your presence matters.
I know it's getting really cold outside, but this fight is heating up fast.
We need you there, and we need your help.
Telephonic Hearing Sign-Ups Are Exploding
Here's what has happened in just one week:
- Right before Thanksgiving, only 10 people had signed up to speak.
- By this morning, SCC staff told us 242 had signed up.
- By this afternoon, after more processing, the total increased to 328 .
That is +318 in one week, and it is still growing
Congressman Suhas Subramanyam Submitted a Public Comment Yesterday
Yesterday, the Congressman sent a formal public comment to the SCC raising serious concerns about the Golden-to-Mars project and supporting the community's request to push back the final evidentiary hearing. His letter emphasizes:
- The significant impact above-ground 500kV lines would have on residential, school, and commercial areas.
- That working families should not be forced to subsidize transmission infrastructure that exists only because of massive data-center expansion.
- That federal and state regulators must use every tool available to mitigate harm to communities.
- That residents are worried they will not have enough time to be heard before the current December 15 evidentiary hearing and that the SCC should give "full and fair consideration" to moving it back.

Why We Still Need Many More Sign-Ups
Our goal is simple: flood the telephonic hearing with enough speakers to push the evidentiary hearing into the new year , which benefits our entire coalition.
- Each speaker gets 5 minutes, and the evidentiary hearing begins immediately after the last telephonic speaker on 12/15.
- With the holidays approaching, a large enough number of speakers forces the schedule to extend.
- While we are fully ready for the evidentiary hearing, starting after the new year strengthens our position and ensures we are not rushed.
On Tuesday, together with the other LVEs, Loudoun County, LCPS, and others, we filed a motion asking the SCC to delay the evidentiary hearing to the week of February 9 . The filing highlights the overwhelming public participation in this case - the September hearings had more speakers signed up than could be heard, more than 700 public comments are already in the docket, and the number of telephonic speakers will not be known until after the December 9 deadline. Given the volume and the holidays, the request argues that starting the evidentiary hearing in February is the fairest and most practical path.
We need to hit 500 sign-ups ASAP. Then 1,000.
Engagement is rising across all HOAs - now we push.
