Two Updates - School Board Emails + Tomorrow's Board of Supervisors Meeting

Two things today - one is a reminder, one is new.
School Board Land Donation - Keep the Emails Coming
Thank you to everyone who has already emailed the School Board in support of our community's land donation. If you have not yet, there is still time and it still matters. Send a message of support to LCSB@lcps.org. If you already have, please forward this to a neighbor, a friend, anyone in the area who cares about this issue. You do not need to live in Loudoun Valley Estates to write. If this land matters to you, if this issue matters to you, your voice matters here.

Tomorrow's Board of Supervisors Meeting - Two More Data Center Projects Up for Approval
Look at our area. Look at Loudoun County Parkway. Data centers and substations everywhere you turn. Enough is enough. The Board does not have to keep granting these exemptions - and tomorrow they are being asked to approve two more.
At tomorrow's hearing, the Board of Supervisors is being asked to approve two more data center infrastructure projects - right down the street at Loudoun County Parkway and Shellhorn Road.
Item 6 is a 39% expansion of a data center building that the applicant voluntarily removed from its own site plan - now coming back bigger under rules the Board deliberately made more restrictive. Item 7 is yet another Dominion substation in a corridor that already has multiple substations stacked on top of each other. The Board's own Community Planning staff found that neither project aligns with the General Plan, and staff stated across multiple reviews that they cannot support the substation. Two Planning Commissioners voted against it. Neither applicant held a single community meeting.
It feels like every Board meeting, another data center or substation application shows up on the agenda seeking a special exception - quietly, with no community outreach, in areas the Board itself redesignated away from this exact type of use. A special exception is not an entitlement - the Board has the ability and responsibility to say no to these projects - and on these two, the Board's own staff has given them every reason to.
If this concerns you, please email the Board of Supervisors at BoS@loudoun.gov.
Send them an email along the lines of:
I am a resident of the Loudoun County Parkway corridor and I am writing to ask you to deny Items 6 and 7 on tomorrow's agenda. Your own Community Planning staff found that neither project aligns with the General Plan. Two Planning Commissioners voted against the substation. Neither applicant held a single community meeting. The Board adopted the Data Center Standards and UTC Place Type for a reason - please hold the line on the standards you set. A special exception is not an entitlement. Please vote no to both.
Things have been allowed to get out of control in Loudoun County, and it is impacting the livability of this community for all of us.
This is a mess the Board needs to start correcting.
Board elections are in 2027. It would be wise for our Supervisors to start listening to their constituents now.
More to come.
